Andhra students 'Mahapadayatra' disrupted
The ongoing 'Mahapadayatra' of the Andhra students which was started few days back from Guntur was disrupted last night. In the Mahapadayatra around 53 students from 13 universities were participating. The padayatra was flagged off from Nagarjuna university few days back. However they were arrested last night along with the group leader Kishore and were shifted to a police station in Machilipatnam.
The students after being arrested claimed that it is Sabitha Indra Reddy who is behind their arrest since she hails from Telangana region. " We belong to Andhra Pradesh. We have freedom to travel to any place in Andhra Pradesh" they said.
However the police said that they have good intensions in arresting the students. Since the students planned to travel to Hyderabad in their padayatra, they have to cross around 200 kilometers in the Telangana region to reach Hyderabad. In such context they would have faced backlash from the Telangana activists in the Telangana region, the police revealed.
TDP leader Devineni Uma said that they would take a decision on the padayatra after discussing about the same in the all party United AP JAC.
