Panic gripped villagers living around Shivani forest range near here as a tiger on the prowl killed three women in as many days since Thursday.

A woman Manda Torpakwar (45) from village Singadzari was killed by a tiger early today when she went to the forest to collect firewood, B P Brahmane, forest officer of Shivni range said today.

He said the tiger killed Manda and dragged her body away from the spot while other women with her fled the spot and raised the alarm. Her body was later recovered from some distance.

Another woman, Shalu Ghodmare, a middle aged woman, was killed by the tiger on Friday in the same forests under Shivni range while on Thursday, a woman Sundarabai Nanavare, in her 40s, was killed in the adjacent Mul Forest Range, believed to be by the same tiger.
