MRPS leader Manda Krishna Madiga was attacked in Telangana Polikeka which occurred in Kakateeya university today. While he was speaking the students cut off the the power supply to his mike. And the students threw bottles and other stuff at him when he started attacking the 'forward castes' in both the TDP and the Congress.
However in his speech he never spoke in caste terms. But the students misunderstood him and attacked him.
Initially the Polikeka started off on a good note with patriotic songs sung by balladeers and many KU student JAC members speaking emotionally about the cause of Telangana.The student leaders lambasted the various leaders of Samaikyandhra movement and used choicest of words in rebuking the Seemandhra leaders.
But the atmosphere in Polikeka changed totally after Manda Krishna Madiga started speaking interrupting the songs of Desapathi Srinivas. Manda started off his speech by criticizing sharply the state government and its leaders. During this some section of students started raising slogans against Manda and threw water packets, mud packets etc. Utter chaos followed which led to the Police lathicharge for dispersing the crowds. Meanwhile the MRPS activists attacked Desapathi Srinivas (writer/singer) who belongs to the forward caste.
Later the Polikeka was called off half an hour before the scheduled time and the police escorted Manda Krishna as he left the campus. The chief guest of Polikeka, Swami Agnivesh had left the venue without speaking due to the utter confusion and chaos.
Later speaking to the media Manda Krishna Madiga has alleged that KCR is the man who has orchestrated an attack on him with the students. He questioned if the attack on him is not preplanned then how is it possible to throw mud packets on him. He said that KCR developed grudge on him as he has questioned the domination of forward castes in Telangana JAC.
Manda Krishna reiterated that all the Telangana JAC's are dominated either by Velama or Reddy castes and even the 'Handicapped JAC' too is headed by a Reddy. He pointed out that when majority of the students who are dying and going to Jails for Telangana are SC's(Dalits) or backward castes then how come 'we' (SC''s) are not given a major role in various Joint Action Committees that are formed. He said that intentionally their voice is being suppressed by the forward caste leaders in Telangana.
He claimed that the students attacked him because he belonged to the scheduled caste category. He demanded that KCR should apologize for what has happened today.
He said that Telangana is seriously in a danger of going under 'Dorala Paripalana' which roughly means to the domination by forward castes.
This is not the first time Manda Krishna Madiga had a tiff with Reddy and Velama Leaders of Telangana. Previously during the Telangana JAC meet he questioned the domination of Forward caste leaders in JAC which almost led to blows with Damodar Reddy.
